For International Institute for Nanotechnology
The International Institute for Nanotechnology (IIN) is a collaborative venture between NU and Argonne National Laboratory's Center for Nanoscale Materials, which unites over $600 million in nanotechnology research, educational programs, and support infrastructure under one umbrella. Established in 2000, the IIN is anchored by 27 research centers & initiatives. Collaborative partnerships exist in 30 countries and 20 start-up companies have been launched based on IIN technologies. The tools necessary to support this cutting-edge research are available for measurement, manipulation, and analysis at the nanoscale, and innovative new methods for educating students and the public in this new and diverse field are also part of the IIN effort. The IIN embodies an extraordinary combination of scientific capabilities, outreach programs, and partnerships that provide a unique and fertile ground from which to make substantial contributions to the field and ensure that the U.S. remains a world leader in nanotechnology.
