The Center for Genetic Medicine is a joint venture between Northwestern University, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Children’s Memorial Hospital, and Evanston Northwestern Healthcare. The center facilitates research that improves the understanding of fundamental genetic mechanisms, stimulates the development of genetically based technology for diagnosis and treatment of disease, and aids the faculty of Northwestern University Medical School and its partner hospitals in applying genetics to the practice of medicine. The center also coordinates Northwestern University’s educational activities in the area of genetics and strives to improve public understanding of the impact of genetics and genetic technologies on society.
