Traditionally, grading has served a single purpose: communicating to students how well they have performed in the course. By thinking creatively and strategically about how to integrate it into a course, however, faculty members can use assessment as a means for improving student learning. In this workshop, participants will consider how to
• Link course objectives, design, and assessment
• Develop and use grading rubrics
• Effectively use alternative forms of student assessment
• Use formative assessment to improve student learning
