The Los Angeles Times enthuses, “The world’s hottest classical ensemble or its tightest pop band? However it helps you to think about the LAGQ, keep the emphasis on superlatives for its unrivaled joy, technical élan, and questing spirits.” With a nearly 30-year performing history, the members of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet continue to set the guitar-ensemble standard for expression and virtuosity. The quartet’s first Telarc recording, LAGQ: Latin, was nominated for a 2003 Grammy for best classical crossover recording, and its second, LAGQ’s Guitar Heroes, won in that category in 2005. The group’s Northwestern program includes the new work The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote: Words and Music from the Time of Cervantes, performed with acclaimed actor Phil Proctor as narrator. Part of the Segovia Classical Guitar Series.
