Guitarist Colin McAllister will present a wide-ranging concert of modern music, including works for guitar and electroacoustics by Juan Campoverde, Mario Davidovsky, and Eric Simonson; the spectralist masterpiece Tellur by Tristan Murail; and a guitarist favorite, Decameron Negro by Leo Brouwer. Widely recognized for his innovative concert programming, versatility, and dedication to contemporary repertoire, McAllister has given the world or U.S. premieres of more than 50 works. In performance he plays both classical and electric guitars as well as the 11-string altgitarre. Director of the classical and jazz guitar programs at the University of California, San Diego, McAllister maintains an active international performance schedule.
