Screencasting for Teaching

This is an introductory hands-on workshop for the either the Windows screencasting program, Camtasia Studio or the Mac screencasting program, Camtasia for Mac. This class will introduce the concept of screencasting and work through a sample screencast, from recording to simple editing to production. This class is presented as a collaboration between the Galter Health Sciences Library and the Feinberg Academy of Medical Educators. 

NOTE: This is a 1.5-hour class. Additionally, approximately 45 minutes of pre-work will be required (via online modules) and will be sent to each participant.

After completing the pre-work and in-person workshop, participants will be able to:

Define screencasting and explain what features distinguish it from other modes of educational technology (pre-work) Identify the reasons for using screencasting for teaching (pre-work) Plan an educational screencast by creating an outline and storyboard (pre-work) Execute the basic functions of Camtasia Studio or Camtasia for Mac (in-person workshop) Create a basic screencast using Camtasia Studio or Camtasia for Mac (a sample screencast will be recorded, edited and produced during the in-person workshop)
