The Luce Scholars Program is a nationally competitive fellowship program that provides stipends, language training, and individualized professional placement in Asia for 15-18 Luce Scholars each year, and welcomes applications from college seniors, graduate students, and young professionals in a variety of fields who have had limited exposure to Asia.
The purpose of this program is to increase awareness of Asia among future leaders in American society. The program is unique in that it is intended for young leaders who have no prior experience of Asia. It aims to foster an expanding body of citizens who, without being specialists, are familiar with and responsive to Asian cultures and societies. The Foundation attempts to match the scholar's background, experience, and aspirations with an appropriate internship. Placements will be made in Brunei, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, or Vietnam.
Complete Luce Applications are due to the Office of Fellowships by Noon on Friday, October 12. Applications should be typed and can be hand-delivered, snail-mailed or sent via email.
For the internal process. transcripts can be downloaded unofficially from Caesar and recommenders can email their letters directly to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Applications can be downloaded at http://www.hluce.org/lsapp.aspx.
