Mindfulness meditation is an empirically-supported practice that can decrease stress, anxiety, and depression through the cultivation of present-moment awareness, clarity, and acceptance. Research on Mindfulness meditation has also shown that it can decrease blood pressure, improve immune function, and relieve chronic pain. Participants in this multi-part workshop will be introduced to a number of mind-body self-regulatory skills designed to improve concentration and decrease reactivity to distressing thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations.
The Introduction to Mindfulness workshop series will be held a number of different times this quarter on the Chicago and Evanston Campuses.
