Award-winning author and Center for the Writing Arts writer in residence Alex Kotlowitz will have Dave Isay, Storycorps founder as his special guest. They will discuss the art of storytelling, the importance of it, and why it's so great Chicago is getting it's own Storycorps booth this spring.
Storycorps mission is to provide Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to record, share, and preserve the stories of our lives.
Since 2003, StoryCorps has collected and archived more than 40,000 interviews from more than 80,000 participants. Each conversation is recorded on a free CD to share, and is preserved at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. StoryCorps is one of the largest oral history projects of its kind. http://storycorps.org
Alex Kotlowitz, is the award-winning author of There Are No Children Here, The Other Side of the River, and Never a City So Real. Contributor to The New York Times Magazineand public radio’s This American Life. Alex Kotlowitz is renowned for his narratives of particular individuals whose concrete life experiences illuminate broad aspects of our nation’s social and political landscape.
