Evanston Township High School Event with IPR/Northwestern Faculty Members
A panel discussion will bring together some of Northwestern University’s world-class researchers from various education-related fields to provide a look at the future of education in the United States. "Academic Achievement in a Global Society – A Panel Discussion with Northwestern University Experts on the Future of Education" will be held at 7 p.m. on Jan. 23 in the Upstairs Theatre of Evanston Township High School, 1600 Dodge Ave.
Research shows that a bold, coordinated and timely shift is required across the K-20 spectrum towards creating educational spaces that foster inclusive, creative and collaborative problem solving. Diverse, academically rigorous schools that are dedicated to preparing all their students to be engaged members of inclusive, democratic communities are well positioned to carry out this charge. The panel will discuss the ways in which schools such as Evanston Township High School can lead the way in forging fresh connections between academic rigor, diversity and inclusive learning to prepare students for a multiracial, global world.
The panel discussion will include Northwestern University researchers David Figlio (moderator), Anthony Chen (sociology), Mesmin Destin (psychology), Kirabo Jackson (economics), Kemi Jonah (STEM – science, technology, engineering, mathematics), and Jenn Richeson (psychology).
