Join us for an evening with National Book Award winner Nikky Finney. Poet and editor Parneisha Jones will interview Nikky Finney about her award-winning work, growing up during the civil rights movement, and the fiftieth anniversary of the March on Washington.
Reception and book signing to follow. Seating is limited.
Nikky Finney holds the John H. Bennett Jr. Chair of Southern Letters and Creative Writing at the University of South Carolina. She is editor of the anthology The Ringing Ear: Black Poets Lean South and the author of a short-story collection, Heartwood. Her fourth collection of poetry, Head Off & Split, won the 2011 National Book Award for Poetry (TriQuarterly Books/Northwestern University Press, 2011).
