Away from Home by Eun-Kyung Suh explores the emotional resonance of the Diaspora experience of Korean immigrants and Korean adoptees in the United States. These beautifully constructed silk panels and boxes are punctuated with images and texts that have been printed directly onto the fabric. The anecdotal nature of these images, give viewers a window into the experience of cultural identification. Using color, “Sympathies”, “R(H)yeon’s Journey”, and “Blue + Red” convey the emotion and experience of Diaspora in the United States. Through these three projects, Eun-Kyung Suh has been able to create a broader dialogue to encapsulate her experiences with Diaspora.
Please join us for our first exhibition of the 2013 - 2014 exhibition season. We will be hosting a free reception for the exhibition on Friday September, 27th from 6 - 8 pm. Light refreshments will be served.
