Girl Rising is a groundbreaking film, directed by Academy Award nominee Richard Robbins, which tells the stories of 9 extraordinary girls from 9 countries, written by 9 celebrated writers and narrated by 9 renowned actresses. The film elegantly showcases the strength of the human spirit and the power of education to change the world. Girl Rising is also a global action campaign for girls' education, founded by award-winning journalists and filmmakers. Centered by the new feature film, Girl Rising uses the power of storytelling and the leverage of strategic partnerships to deliver a simple, critical truth: Educate Girls and you will Change the World. Joan Sherman, faculty member in Gender and Sexuality Studies, will lead a short discussion and Q&A session following the film.
