“Developing and Using a Vital Sign for Physical Activity”
Although cardiovascular and other health risks of physical inactivity are widely recognized, current epidemiologic relationships between physical activity (PA) and disease are attenuated significantly because of measurement error from PA that is self-reported. Improving measures of and identifying population PA using electronic health records can explicate radically PA-disease relationships and facilitate policy aimed at increasing public PA.
