Praised by the New York Times for his “virtuosic,” “dazzling,” and “brilliant” performances, oboist James Austin Smith performs both classical and contemporary music nationally and around the world. A regular guest of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Smith is an artist with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Chamber Music Society Two, the International Contemporary Ensemble, the Cygnus Ensemble, Decoda, and the Talea Ensemble. In fall 2014 he joined the faculty of the Manhattan School of Music.
