Workshop Description:
In a world increasingly negotiated and informed by communications technology, the redesign of teaching and learning in the university classroom to reflect digital modes of exchange requires deliberation. While many instructors and TAs utilize PowerPoint, YouTube videos, and Blackboard/Canvas, among many other digital programs, many alternative applications, ripe for pedagogical consideration, exist. This workshop aims to both introduce participants to a number of tools that they may incorporate into their courses, assignments, and methods of evaluation, as well as inform them of the resources available at Northwestern for such endeavors. Ultimately, by exploring potential technologies and methods of integration, the goal of this workshop is to strategize how to employ digital technologies in the classroom in ways that holistically expand upon, rather than supplement, current teaching practices and learning objectives.
Workshop Facilitators:
Faye Gleisser is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Art History writing a dissertation on the historical and cultural specificity of guerrilla art in the sixties and seventies.
Josh Honn is Digital Scholarship Librarian at the Center for Scholarly Communication & Digital Curation, Northwestern University, where he consults and collaborates with faculty and graduate students in the humanities on digital pedagogy and research projects.
