Workshop Description:
Concrete expectations for complex tasks, feedback focused on process and student growth, efficient and robust evaluation tools: a good rubric can make you run faster, jump higher, and assess with the best. This workshop will focus on the elements of rubric design and implementation—from analyzing assessment tasks, to selecting appropriate rubric structures, to drafting and adapting feedback instruments. Our goal is twofold: to introduce participants to key concepts and best practices in rubric development, and to facilitate the process of rubric formation. Participants should come with a specific learning objective and/or assessment task to focus on, and should be prepared to draft a rubric for it over the course of the workshop. Batteries not included.

Workshop Facilitator:
David Molina is a doctoral candidate in the Rhetoric and Public Culture Program, and a graduate assistant at the Searle Center. His work focuses on coalition discourse in the sixties and seventies, particularly in Chicago.
