T lymphocytes are a crucial component of adaptive immunity to pathogens, but also mediate autoimmune disease and contribute to inflammatory disorders. In this seminar I will discuss research from my laboratory on the molecular and genetic mechanisms that T lymphocytes use to ‘decide’ between tolerant and immune cell fates.
