The MSTP Women's Forum on Physician-Scientists is a series of conversations between invited speakers and current students which address the unique experiences of women in science and medicine. We strive to offer guidance for all trainees as we move forward in our training and careers. We are honored to welcome our Spring 2015 Keynote Speaker: Dr. Lucy Godley, MD, PhD.
Dr. Godley earned her PhD at the University of California, San Francisco and received her MD from Northwestern University. She did her residency, postdoctoral research, and fellowship training at The University of Chicago, where she is now an Associate Professor of Medicine in Hematology/Oncology.
Dr. Godley’s main research interest is in the field of epigenetics. Her lab studies abnormal patterns of DNA methylation in cancer cells and the mechanisms that control DNA methylation in these cells. In a project inspired by one of her clinic patients, her research has also expanded to include the study of inherited forms of bone marrow cancers. Dr. Godley’s accomplishments as a physician-scientist are reflected by her numerous research awards and her induction into the American Society for Clinical Investigation in 2012.
Please join us to hear more about Dr. Godley’s life and path to a career merging basic research and clinical medicine.
