The Asian American Studies Program at Northwestern was established in 1999 as a result of student protest, including a hunger strike. This year, 2015, marks the 20th anniversary of the hunger strike. The program will be commemorating this important event through student activism and performances to honor the Program's growth into a nationally renowned academic center for the study of Asian American experience.
