Description:

Faculty/Graduate/Postdoc Workshop - Teaching the Anxious Student: Classroom Strategies for Improved Learning and Well-Being

For some Northwestern students, the demands of keeping up with coursework and extracurricular activities are stressful, and at times overwhelming. Students’ anxiety presents additional challenges for course instructors: it can lead to avoidance, procrastination and other anxiety-related behaviors that may impair academic performance.  The classroom environment itself can have an impact on students’ anxiety levels and on the way they manage stressors, and there are steps faculty can take to promote more positive outcomes. Please join us for an informative and interactive presentation/discussion of evidence-based strategies for effectively teaching and supporting the anxious student in the classroom.

This session will be led by clinical psychologists David Shor, Director of Clinical Services for CAPS, and Henry Perkins, Coordinator of the CAPS Stress Management Clinic.

**Registration required.  Please register here.
