This Mobile MeetUp will begin with Kris O’Brien, director, NUIT Finance, Facilities, and Research Administration (FFRA), who will discuss the newly implemented FAMIS Mobile application and the development process using an outside vendor. She will be followed by Kayleen McMonigal, (WCAS ’15), who will demonstrate the app.
Next, Bethany Hubbard, publications editor, Science in Society, Office for Research and Andrew Hullinger, visiting professor, Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications and studio leader of Web Design and Development at the Harrington College of Design, will share how they developed an iOS app for the Science in Society (SiS) annual scientific images contest through collaboration with an interactive design class at the Harrington College of Design in Chicago.
In the final presentation, Harlan Wallach, associate director of Educational Technology, NUIT Academic & Research Technologies, will present the range of public paths for distributing iOS and Android mobile applications, as well as, enterprise and educational options that can selectively limit distribution to the Northwestern community.
You’ll learn about:
- The pros and cons of engaging outside vendor assistance to develop native mobile apps.
- Insight into the collaborative FFRA and SiS processes involving the development of their native mobile apps with off-site partners.
- Varieties of options for distributing and publishing mobile apps.
