"RIG-I and MDA5, commonly termed RIG-I-like receptors (RLRs), sense a wide range of RNA viruses and subsequently induce signaling that results in the production of type-I interferons and proinflammatory cytokines. Our ongoing studies highlight an important role of posttranslational modifications for regulating the antiviral activities of RLRs. Intriguingly, several viruses have evolved strategies to modulate the intricate posttranslational modification program of RLRs for escaping innate immune detection.I will present our recent findings on RLR regulation by host factors, and on the strategies used by viral pathogens to manipulate the regulatory networks in innate immunity."
