An increasing number of research teams and projects are engaging relevant community representatives, patients, and other stakeholders on advisory boards (ABs) to provide ongoing input and feedback on a research project’s design, conduct, and dissemination.
This Center for Community Health webinar will provide basic information that may be helpful for community representatives serving on advisory boards for research, e.g. basic research terms/design, basic structure/process of university research and federal research funding, and expectations/considerations in serving.
Community partners who have served on multiple research advisory boards will share their experiences and lessons learned. Presenters include:
- Marcus Murray, Executive Director, Project Brotherhood
- Yaa Simpson, Community Epidemiologist & Bioethicist, The Association of Clinical Trials Services (TACTS)
- Rev. Kirsten Peachy, Director, Congregational Health Partnerships; Co-Director, The Center for Faith & Community Health Transformation, Director, Advocate Health Care
This session may be of interest to community representatives considering or currently serving on an advisory board for research. It may also be helpful for faculty or academic staff who are facilitating advisory boards to learn about info and resources of use to their advisory board members.
