Buffett Award for Emerging Global Leaders Inaugural Lecture with Khalida Brohi
7:00 PM lecture, reception to follow
The Buffett Award recognizes and energizes the accomplishments of global leaders early in their career working on issues of global significance. Northwestern undergraduates nominate and vote for the recipient of the annual award.
Khalida Brohi, the winner in the award's inaugural year, launched Sughar Empowerment Society Pakistan in 2009 to fight against customs that place restrictions on women. Sughar offers a vast number of opportunities for women, including resources to launch and sustain rural, woman-owned businesses. She was awarded the Woman of Impact Award by Women in the World Foundation, Women Excellence Award by National Government of Pakistan, The Unreasonable Institute Fellowship Award, and has been named among Newsweek’s “25 Under 25 Women of Impact."
