Learning Objectives
At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the challenge faced by PhD students and postdocs who want to learn more about effective teaching but don’t have local access or whose mentors are not supportive.
2. Describe the basic features of a massive open online course, the mechanisms used and the differences between online synchronous and asynchronous learning modes.
3. Describe the key elements of a learning community that advances collective knowledge in support of the development of personal knowledge.
4. Identify the success and challenges of integrating online and in-person learning, and can apply the model to their teaching context.
