U.S. Air Force Lt Col Mike Fowler and Associate Professor in the Military & Strategic Studies department at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, will be presenting a draft chapter from "Contemporary Military Strategy and the Profession of Effects," which will be an edited volume published by Georgetown University Press in early 2018. The purpose of this edited volume on contemporary strategy is to fill a knowledge gap in strategy at the operational level of war. Most edited books on strategy primarily focus on the strategic level of war and grand (national policy) strategy.
Prof. Fowler has a Ph.D. in Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School, and has been published in Journal of Strategic Security, Global Security and Intelligence Studies, International Journal of Intelligence and Counterintelligence, and Small Wars Journal. Finally, as an Air Force Intelligence Officer he has worked numerous staff jobs at U.S. Africa Command and U.S. Northern Command, and has extensive experience in nuclear control procedures.
This event is being co-sponsored by the Department of Political Science at Northwestern University, with funding graciously provided by the Department Head, Sara Monoson.
