In recognition of the cultural traditions brought to the city of Chicago and the surrounding region since its founding by Native Americans, refugees, and immigrants, we are pleased to invite you to join us for a celebration of our cultural diversity in honor of World Refugee Day 2017.
Hosted by a wide variety of community organizations and leading institutions along with the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), the half-day event connects and showcases Chicago’s rich traditions in food, language, art, literature, architecture, and design. The events will include an indoor “street fair” providing opportunities to connect with a large number of cultural experiences alongside performances and screenings of multi-media works.
We invite you to join us as we together establish this first annual celebration of Chicago’s multicultural history and the inspiring inclusive community that makes our city stronger now and in the future.
