Third Coast CFAR Seminar
Steven Bosinger, PhD, Yerkes Researcher

Steven Bosinger, PhD, is Co-Director of the Yerkes National Primate Research Center’s Nonhuman Primate Genomics Core Laboratory, which is a resource to researchers who conduct studies using high throughput genetic technology. He focuses his own research on understanding the mechanisms by which nonpathogenic species avoid disease during HIV/SIV infection and identifying correlates of immunity in candidate HIV vaccines. Dr. Bosinger received his doctorate in Microbiology & Immunology from the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. He was a recipient of a Canadian Institutes of Health Research Fellowship in HIV & AIDS and conducted his postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania with Guido Silvestri, MD, now Division Chief of Microbiology and Immunology at Yerkes. In 2008, Dr. Bosinger received one of five Young Investigator Awards from the Global HIV Vaccine Enterprise for his work characterizing the immune response to SIV in natural host monkeys at a genome-wide level. He collaborates with a number of researchers at Yerkes, including Drs. Silvestri, Zach Johnson, Mirko Paiardini, Rama Amara and Arash Grakoui.
