Description:

Prominent Kenyan human rights lawyer Allan Achesa Maleche will discuss his recent groundbreaking litigation in the High Court of Kenya at Nairobi, in which he won a decision finding the imprisonment of people with TB for stopping treatment to be unconstitutional. The court victory is part of a larger global advocacy campaign promoting a human rights-based approach to TB, an infectious disease that kills more people than any other around the world. Allan was also instrumental in developing the Nairobi Strategy on TB and Human Rights in collaboration with UN Stop TB Partnership and the University of Chicago International Human Rights Clinic. The Strategy outlines a human rights-based framework for achieving the Global Plan to End TB 2016-2020
