Description:

Women and people of color remain underrepresented in many STEM fields, despite some efforts over the last few decades to broaden participation in these fields. The Topics in STEMinism series examines the various ways in which social and cultural contexts shape the experiences of women in male-dominated STEM fields. Join other Northwestern graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, faculty, and staff on-campus as we participate in this series organized by the CIRTL Network. In each week of this CIRTLCast series, we discuss the unique challenges faced by women in their educational and career trajectories.

On October 4, we will discuss the participation of women in STEM, assess the challenges they face academically and professionally, and discuss strategies for inclusion. Guest women scientists will provide insights and strategies for thriving in academic and non-academic contexts. Across the series, we explore how feminist perspectives can inform and enhance research, teaching, and learning in STEM. The CIRTLCasts are on Wednesdays from 1-2pm, and will be followed by a short discussion led by Northwestern faculty or staff.

If you are unable to join us in person, you are welcome to register for the online event for free and attend on your own.
