Description:

The Latina and Latino Studies Program at Northwestern University invites you to commemorate its 10-year anniversary on campus. We will celebrate with a half-day symposium to reflect on the program’s many accomplishments, assess where we are right now, and look ahead to future engagement with new forms of identity, community, and resistance. The symposium will feature three panels: 1) an alumni panel in which former students will discuss how Latinx Studies has shaped their lives during and after college; 2) the meaning and implications of the “x” in Latinx; and 3) a panel looking ahead to our next ten years and our plans for future growth. Our invited speakers are students, artists, and scholars who dialogue across disciplines and will help us explore why Latinx Studies has been and continues to be critical on and off college campuses.
