Please join us for a reception and presentation on Thursday, October 11th for 2018 Illinois Teacher of the Year Lindsey Jensen!

Reception: Annenberg G22 from 4:30-6pm

Presentation: Annenberg G21 from 6-7pm

Lindsey Jensen is the 2018 Illinois Teacher of the Year. Lindsey earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Southern Illinois University, and she acquired a Master’s degree from Oakland City University. She is currently completing her Doctorate at Illinois State University through the School of Teaching and Learning, where she is finishing her dissertation and studying gender and technology in YA Dystopian Literature. Currently, she is a Secondary English Educator at Dwight Township High School, where she teaches Advanced Placement English, English III, and English IV.

Topics of discussion will include: Lindsey’s time as Teacher of the Year, her enthusiasm for education, the importance of family engagement, asset-based thinking vs. deficit-based thinking, and how to cultivate powerful relationships with students, families, and stakeholders.

There will be an informal gathering on Friday, October 12th at 4 pm at World of Beer with Tim Dohrer and Lindsey Jensen. Please RSVP by Wednesday at noon by e-mailing Tim ( ) if you're interested in coming on Friday!
