Description:

Joyce Dalsheim is a cultural anthropologist and Associate Professor of Global Studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is a 2018-2019 Luce/ACLS Fellow with the Global Politics and Religion Research Group at the Buffett Institute for Global Studies, Northwestern University.

She is the author of Unsettling Gaza: Secular Liberalism, Radical Religion, and the Israeli Settlement Project (Oxford University Press, 2011), and Producing Spoilers: Peacemaking and Production of Enmity in a Secular Age (Oxford University Press, 2014). She previously taught at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Ben Gurion University of the Negev, and Wake Forest University.

Serving as discussant willbe Sara Yael Hirschhorn, Visiting Assistant Professor in Israel Studies in the Crown Family Center for Jewish and Israel Studies at Northwestern and the author of City on a Hilltop: American Jews and the Israeli Settler Movement (Harvard University Press, 2017).
