This course will focus on the techniques of Hip Hop (street/urban) dance styles. Through the introduction of foundational vocabularies of specific dance and their social and cultural contexts, students will develop proficiency in core techniques that are seen across a wide variety of Hip Hop dance styles. Students will practice proper alignment and posture for hip-hop dance, perform hip-hop isolations, grooves, footwork and basic movements—such as popping, locking and waves—and develop rhythmic interpretation of the movements to music. Wear comfortable clothing and sneakers.
