This course will focus on the techniques of Hip Hop (street/urban) dance styles. Through the introduction of foundational vocabularies of specific dance and their social and cultural contexts, students will develop proficiency in core techniques that are seen across a wide variety of Hip Hop dance styles. Students will practice proper alignment and posture for hip-hop dance, perform hip-hop isolations, grooves, footwork and basic movements—such as popping, locking and waves—and develop rhythmic interpretation of the movements to music. Wear comfortable clothing and sneakers. Come to dance and have fun!
