Description:

Tech-facilitated sexual violence is on the rise, including the nonconsensual distribution of intimate images, cyberflashing, sextortion, and the creation of synthetic images like deepfakes. Consent, or the lack thereof, is central to these modern harms. To disrupt these growing patterns of online harms, this presentation introduces the concept of digital bodily autonomy and highlights the benefits of treating our digital images with the same level of importance as our physical bodies.

We'll explore how consent is treated differently online and emphasize the need for consent in all online interactions by fostering a consent-based digital culture. From here, we will empower attendees with practical strategies and approaches-including conversation starters, presentation ideas, safety tips, intervention techniques and more-for prevention and education on our campuses and in our relationships.

Our Speaker: Adam Dodge (he/him), the founder of EndTAB, is a digital safety advocate and speaker who believes you do not have to be a tech expert to protect yourself or others in the digital age. His work is characterized by his dedication to training others to prevent and address the ways adults and children are harmed online and via their devices. He advises the White House Task Force to Address Online Abuse and Harassment, is a special advisor to the Coalition Against Stalkerware and sits on the World Economic Forum's Digital Justice Advisory Committee. Adam is also a licensed California attorney and his work and expertise have been featured on CBS, NBC, NPR and in the New York Times, Vogue, the MIT Technology Review, Washington Post, GQ, and others.
