Examination and Evaluation of the Mid and Upper Cervical Spine: A Case-Based Approach presented by Larry S. Olver, PT, DPT, MS, OCS, FAAOMPT

Managing patients with mid and upper cervical dysfunctions can be challenging for both the novice and experienced clinician. This course will provide clinical decision-making tools and hands-on skills needed to complete an inclusive mid and upper cervical examination with a focus on identification of the major contributing factors to pathology in the region. The lab experience will include the practice of physical examination tests, cranial nerve examination, and temporomandibular joint screening. Performance of treatment techniques will occur in lab as well, some generated through a relevant case report. Active participation is encouraged for all those attending, to facilitate understanding and provide useful skills for immediate incorporation into clinical practice.

1:00-4:30 pm
(3.5 CEUs)
Physical Therapy Management of Patients with Cancer presented by Beth Holland, PT, DPT, NCS & Elizabeth Campione, PT, DPT, CLT-LANA

As cancer survivorship rates improve and the push for independent PT practice continues, clinicians across the continuum of care work with patients with current or past cancer diagnoses. This course provides clinicians with evidence-based discussion of the impact of cancer and cancer treatment on movement dysfunction in the early, subacute, and chronic phases. Through discussion and case studies, we will focus on the development of safe and effective PT plans of care, differential diagnosis and screening for referral, late effects of medical interventions, and the impact of bony metastases and fracture risk.
