The Hertz Foundation supports Ph.D. work in the applied physical sciences. Each year it awards about two dozen fellowships to young men and women whom it expects to have the greatest impact on the application of the physical sciences to human problems during the next half-century. Hertz interviews a high percentage of applicants the first time around, then chooses a small subset of candidates for a second round of interviews. Both interviews are one-on-one.
Eligibility
College seniors wishing to pursue a Ph.D. degree, as well as graduate students already in the process of doing so in the applied physical, biological and engineering sciences who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States of America.
