Robert Hariman, Communication Studies
Hariman (PhD, University of Minnesota) teaches rhetorical theory and the critical study of public culture, which focuses on the relationship between art and argument in the formation of political experience. His scholarship focuses on the role of style in human affairs, particularly with regard to political judgment and the discursive constitution of modern society. His publications include Political Style: The Artistry of Power, as well as edited volumes on Popular Trials, Post-Realism, and Prudence. Hariman has written numerous book chapters and journal articles in several disciplines with recent work including a book co-authored with John Louis Lucaites, No Caption Needed: Iconic Photographs, Public Culture, and Liberal Democracy.
