Mary Elena (Ella) Wilhoit, graduate student in the Department of Anthropology, is giving a talk based on her recent fieldwork in a rural subdistrict of Ayacucho, Peru. The title of her presentation is "Inequality and Introspection: Race, Gender and Ethnography in the Andes,” and she looks forward to conversation and feedback on what will be part of a chapter of her dissertation, tentatively titled “Nostalgia, Blackface and Beauty Queens: the Gender Politics of Race in Huanta."
