No one has ever suggested that making positive behavior change is easy, but most of us don't understand why it can be so difficult. Our resistance is certainly not caused by lack of knowledge. For example, we all know we shouldn't smoke or eat too much junk food. These brownbags will provide an overview of how people can change their habits and suggest ways to work toward wellness goals.
The Northwestern University Staff Advisory Council (NUSAC), the Office of Work/Life Resources and NU Life Matters will be hosting a lunchtime brownbag for staff on strategies for meeting personal wellness goals. The event will feature a presentation from Vicki Shanta Retelny from NU Life Matters, the University's faculty and staff assistance program provider, and then a question and answer session. After attending the presentation, staff will be better able to:
• Understand the nature of change
• Identify primary barriers to making healthy lifestyle changes
• Utilize tools that have proved useful to others
Please plan to bring a sack lunch. Beverages will be provided.
An event RSVP would be appreciated, as space is limited, and your response will help us to prepare the correct number of handouts and refreshments. To RSVP, use the online form at: docs.google.com/forms/d/1uEEZ9NcRBsTHw9r_aSdnQbbBEUbZ5li0UOCJr299-F0/viewform/.
