Title: "Four Myths About The Middle East"
Description: Monday, April 13, 6 pm, Community Meeting Room, Main Library Four members of Northwestern University's faculty will lead a discussion on "Four Myths About the Middle East." Brian Edwards (Director of the Middle East and North African Studies Department, and member of the English Department) will discuss Myth #1: “The people hate America.” Henri Lauzière (Department of History) will discuss Myth #2: "Islam is a political ideology." Wendy Pearlman (Department of Political Science) will discuss Myth #3: “Violence is a result of ancient hatreds.” Finally, Jessica Winegar (Anthropology Department) will discuss Myth #4: “The men oppress their women.”
