Bio

Erik Ponder works at Northwestern University Libraries. He is pursuing a Masters in Library and Information Science with a focus on African Studies librarianship from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.

Abstract

The presentation explores the historic 1994 democratic elections in South Africa through the oral histories of Chicago anti-apartheid activists and international election observers. The collection of local oral histories was part of a broader Northwestern University Libraries exhibit marking 20 years of democracy in South Africa.
