Title: Two-pathway interference technique for measurements of very weak optical transition amplitudes.
Speaker: Dr. Dan Elliott, Purdue University
Abstract: Two-pathway coherent control can provide a sensitive means of determining highly-forbidden transition moments in atomic systems with high precision. In this talk, we will review the interference technique, present a demonstration of its capability, and discuss two measurements under development in our laboratory in which we apply the coherent control technique to measurements of the weak-force induced electric dipole transition moment on the 6s → 7s transition and the ground state hyperfine transition in atomic cesium.
