Elizabeth Shakman Hurd: The Politics of Religion in an Age of Freedom and Terror.

Elizabeth Shakman Hurd teaches on relations among law, religion, and global politics at Northwestern University. In summer 2015, she released Beyond Religious Freedom: The New Global Politics of Religion (Princeton University Press). She is the co-founder of MENA at Northwestern University, leads the new Global Politics and Religion Research Group at the Buffett Institute, and directs the graduate certificate in religion and politics.

Hurd consults on government, media, and foundation projects involving religion and world affairs, and has written for Boston Review, Public Culture, The Atlantic, Chicago Tribune, Foreign Policy, Al Jazeera America, The Globe and Mail, and The Huffington Post.
