Design, direct and act—as a motion-mapped avatar—in scenes from Shakespeare’s plays!
Play the Knave is an interactive digital game that allows you to stage and act in a Shakespeare play, Karaoke-style. A motion-capture camera maps your movements onto a 3-D avatar to mirror your gesture as you "act" on the videoscreen stage after planning the dramatic production. For all ages!
Gameplay is drop-in from 4 to 7pm. Players receive a free video of their digital performance.
Then, at 7pm, don't miss Play the Knave creator Gina Bloom, in a talk about the games development and use as a pedagogical tool! Click here for details.
Presented by the Alice Kaplan Institute for the Humanities as part of The ShakespeaRevel, a festival celebrating 400 years of Shakespeare's legacy. Play the Knave was conceived + created by Gina Bloom + the ModLab, University of California, Davis.
