Title: New ideas for dark matter searches
Speaker: Maxim Popselov, Perimeter Institute and University of Victoria
Abstract: How sure are we that dark matter is a WIMP and will be discovered "tomorrow"?... I will review the original motivation for weakly interacting massive particles as dark mater, and describe some recent efforts to diversify the scope of direct dark matter searches. In my talk, particle physics and cosmology will lead to precision AMO tools (interferometers, clocks, magnetometers) in search for new classes of dark matter candidates.
