Title: Searching for new physics at the precision frontier
Speaker: Vincenzo Cirigliano, Los Alamos National Laboratory
Abstract: Low-energy precision measurements provide unique probes of new physics beyond the so-called Standard Model of fundamental interactions. After presenting an overview of this vibrant field, I will focus on the physics of permanent Electric Dipole Moments (EDMs) of systems ranging from the neutron to atoms and molecules. I will highlight the challenges and progress in connecting observable EDMs to the underlying new physics, as well as the impact of EDM searches on properties of the Higgs boson and hypothetical new super-heavy particles.
