Faculty Workshop – Office Hours and Beyond: Getting Your Students to Seek Academic Help When They Need It

Many faculty members find that as much as they encourage students to come to office hours or review/tutoring hours, only a few show up. Join us in this interactive workshop to consider what keeps students away from these support resources and what can bring them in, how to ensure they come ready to benefit from the conversation, and how to get the students who need help (but may be reluctant to ask for it) in the door. We’ll be joined by several undergraduates who will share their perspectives on these questions. Come ready to share your successes and challenges, and we’ll work together to draft a plan for getting more students to seek the support they need and improving your office-hour experiences.
